I am so excited to be revealing our first corporate office project! Our client, redIQ, was moving from a co-working space in Chelsea to their own dedicated office in One Grand Central Place. Our goal was to create a space that allowed them to keep all the fun aspects of a startup and allow their new brand identity to shine through. The finished space, as you can see for yourself, definitely takes on a personality of its own!
redIQ recently went through a brand refresh, and with it came a completely new palette of colors. We wanted to incorporate these bright and vibrant colors throughout the space while still maintaining a level of sophistication and professionalism that should come from a corporate headquarters. In the main entrance we specified a custom wall covering that brought the energy of the city outside into the space. Paired with iconic red egg chairs and a carved wooden side table we played around with the juxtaposition of an urban scene and natural elements.
Right off the office entrance is the main conference room and a smaller meeting room. These rooms are both accented with the same poppy red that is part of the company color palette. We selected tailored lounge chairs, modern art, and a wood table for the small meeting room along with an oversized architectural lamp to add height and some humor to the seating group. In the main conference room we repurposed the chairs and conference room table from the previous tenants and added a large logo to the back wall. The glass wall allowed for the entrance streetscape to be seen from the conference, thus we were able to transfer that energy into the conference room.
Down the hall from the main conference room is the kitchen and break room. The wall behind the bar-height peninsula was screaming to be something fun as the staff is constantly in and out of these rooms. So we made it a big chalkboard. The staff have really made it their own with important office messages, bathroom codes, and a shopping list. We painted the break room in a gorgeous teal, again from the company palette, and kept with our modern art theme. The white and wood top credenza and Eames Moulded Plastic Chairs give the room a clean but classic look.
In the main office space private and small department offices are situated on the perimeter with glass partitions to allow natural light into the open office area. We painted the right wall in every office the dark teal from the color palette. By doing this, walls are teal as you are walking into the space and white when you walk out. Yellow and gray abstract art and yellow task lamps give little pops of sunshine and breakup the teal walls.
At the end of the row of private offices is another breakout space. We brought in the same red from the main conference room as well as another oversized architectural lamp.
Finally, in the open office space we designed a custom wall covering that highlights redIQ's mission statement and values. Yellow task lamps give additional lighting and the large desks give the staff plenty of room to spread out.
This was an incredibly fun project to work on and I think the results speak for themselves. Special thanks to Monica Ayers Photography for always beautifully documenting our projects. If you are interested in finding out more about our commercial services,
